Real Oviedo went to Montilivi in need of points, but so did Girona. The Asturians made several changes to the starting eleven, with Mossa, Jimmy and Saúl coming into the line-up. The best thing that Real Oviedo did during the first half was to not lose their shape. Girona emerged strongly and dominated the early stages. Lunin intervened well to prevent the hosts' attacks, and Real Oviedo grew as the minutes passed. The referee blew for a penalty against Girona after a clear handball in the box, but the linesman overruled him and gave a corner. Rozada's side managed to overcome their outrage to defend well until the break.
Tejera came on at the start of the second half and Real Oviedo enjoyed their best spell and their best chance, as Mossa found Sangalli on the penalty spot, but the winger fired wide under pressure. However, Girona hit back, from a free kick which should not have been given. Stuani converted well to make the score 1-0. The equaliser arrived shortly afterwards, though. Some fine play down the left wing led to Saúl playing the pass across the edge of the box for Tejera to finish first time, making the score 1-1. Rozada brought on Ibra in place of Saúl and Real Oviedo enjoyed a few more chances which could have seen them take even more from the match, but the point gives the team some breathing space. The next match sees them face Albacete at the Tartiere.
