The NMR Carlos Tartiere this afternoon hosted the thirteenth matchday in LaLiga Smartbank, as Real Oviedo faced Fuenlabrada. The match ended with the points being shared.
Cuco Ziganda opted to stick with the same eleven which had started against Real Zaragoza at La Romareda last weekend, with the aim of adding another three points to the tally and securing a fourth consecutive victory. The first half was even, as Los Azules began the match in a very organised fashion. The Asturians took control of the play and looked to maintain the ball and find a way to break down the visitors' defence. The Madrid-based side had the early chances, with Mula and Iván Salvador both missing clear opportunities. The match became very scrappy for a spell following these two chances, but Real Oviedo were to open the scoring with a Nahuel goal on the stroke of halftime. The winger fired home from outside the area to put Los Carbayones into the lead.
Ziganda's side once more demonstrated organisation and defensive solidity after the break, making the most of counter attacks to create danger. Borja and Sangalli both had opportunities to extend the lead, but were unable to convert them. A fall in the box from one of the Fuenlabrada attackers saw the referee award a penalty against Real Oviedo, and the visitors were able to equalise from the spot. After the goal, Fuenlabrada took control of the ball, and shortly afterwards Blanco Leschuk would see a second yellow card, meaning that Los Azules went down to ten men. Real Oviedo had to tighten up after the dismissal, narrowing the team up and closing off the spaces to the away side. Ziganda brought on Obeng and Arribas, and Los Azules even ended the match still seeking to grab a winning goal on the counter attack.
Real Oviedo will be back at work tomorrow at El Requexón as they begin to prepare for Tuesday's match against CD Lugo at Anxo Carro.
