Nine months and one day after taking charge of Real Oviedo for the first time at Anxo Carro, Ziganda led the Asturians into an away match against CD Lugo once more. Both sides were in good form prior to the match, and the game ended in a draw.
Los Azules made six changes to the lineup for today's match, bringing Grippo, Arribas, Lucas, Cedric, Javi Mier and Obeng into the starting eleven. The home side looked to start the match strongly and dominated both the possession and the game itself early on. Real Oviedo grew into the encounter, taking a step forward as the minutes ticked by. The Asturians looked to win the ball back quickly after losing it and to launch fast attacks on the opposition goal. Cedric's crosses and the combination play between Sangalli and Juanjo Nieto on the wing pushed the Galicians back onto the ropes, while Javi Mier and Tejera both had opportunities to open the scoring. Lugo took the ball back off Ziganda's side in the final stages prior to the interval, and threatened Femenías in the Real Oviedo goal on a couple of occasions.
The proceedings continued in a similar vein after the interval, with Lugo again beginning more brightly than Real Oviedo, but the travelling Asturians then gradually growing to dominate the match. The home side, meanwhile, barely created any chances. Los Azules looked for second balls and shots from outside the area, and had the best of the opportunities. Nahuel came on, bringing spark to Los Carbayones as he played between the lines. Ziganda also brought on Rodri and Borja ten minutes before the full-time whistle. The match ended scrappily, with the two teams battling for possession, and with Real Oviedo creating a couple more opportunities to break the deadlock.
Real Oviedo will return to Oviedo tomorrow, where they will begin to work towards the next match. The fixture against Almería will kick off at 21:00 on Monday at the NMR Carlos Tartiere.
