The team needed three points today and got them. Real Oviedo welcomed Real Zaragoza to the NMR Carlos Tartiere this evening, and ended up adding a 1-0 triumph to the tally.
Cuco Ziganda opted for a starting eleven made up of Femenías; Juanjo Nieto, Grippo, Bolaño, Lucas; Sangalli, Edgar, Javi Mier, Borja Sánchez; Nahuel and Rodri Ríos. Los Azules went into the match aware of the importance of getting a victory in order to gain some breathing space by putting some points between themselves and the teams at the bottom of the table. Real Oviedo were well-organised in the first half, and looked for quick ball transitions. The two sides went toe-to-toe in the opening stages, with the Asturians showing themselves to be very efficient. Rodri Ríos had the first chance from a Nahuel counter attack. As the minutes ticked by Cuco Ziganda's side looked to Sangalli, Borja Sánchez and Nahuel on the wings, as well as the full backs joining in on attacks, to try to hurt Real Zaragoza down the flanks. Los Carbayones were solid in defence, meanwhile, dealing with the visitors' threat.
Shortly after the interval, Rodri Ríos scored the only goal of the game for Los Azules, heading home from Borja's cross and giving the keeper no chance. Ziganda's side began to feel comfortable out on the pitch and had a good spell. Borja Sánchez, Nahuel and Sangalli all had chances to extend the lead. The Coach brought on Samuel Obeng and Borja Valle. He also later sent on Carlos Hernández, to add an extra man in defence and combat Zaragoza's final push for an equaliser.
The team from the capital of Asturias added three more points to the tally tonight at the NMR Carlos Tartiere, making it seven from the last nine available. The side will tomorrow begin to prepare for Friday's game against RCD Espanyol.
