Real Oviedo Head Coach Juan Antonio Anquela appeared in the Press Room this morning, assessing the work done by his team this week ahead of Sunday’s match at El Molinón.

Regarding injury news, Anquela stated that “we have been taking care of a few during the week”, while lamenting the loss of Omar because “we have a lot of faith in him. He has to stay calm because in football you have to take things gradually.”

With respect to the week and the atmosphere, Anquela was firm. “I haveapproached everything in the same way; with the normality and reason that is required. We work hard every week, and we explain and tell them what we want. We know who we are going up against, and what is a good team for this division. Sporting were good and they continue to be so now.”

Regarding the starting eleven, the Real Oviedo coach admitted to having “some doubts” and reasoned that it is “very important” to shut out distractions and focus on the match. “We will not be alone. We are playing with and for a great ‘feeling’ (Oviedismo) and we have to try to be at that level.”

Talking about the opponent’s coach, Anquela said that “he had a great season last year, and now he is in charge of the first team.” However, Anquela was clear that “I have always admired my opponent, but I believethat we can compete against any team, using respect as the foundation. Sporting is no exception. They have won three matches in a row. That’s not easy, and we have to be ourselves. If we are the team that have have been up until now, we will compete. The last match away from home was nothing to be proud of.”

The Real Oviedo coach is expecting “a beautiful match, and we should be calm and reasonable. This is going to be a great fiesta of football. It’s going to be a very nice occasion, and I hope that we can all enjoy it.”

Finally, Anquela noted that “last year I gave this match a name: the end of the world match. But the world doesn’t end with this match. When it’s over the season will go on, there will still be work to do, for better or for worse. We need to compete and be at the level that our fans are going to be at. They never let us down. We need the respect, reason, calmness, dedication and good attitude that this fanbase and city deserve.”
