Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón after the first team’s final training session of the week.
Ahead of the upcoming match against Real Valladolid and an intense week of work, the Coach declared that, “we are training well ready for tomorrow’s match. We just need some luck now to play well and get the win.” In addition, Juan Antonio Anquela confirmed that, “except for Olmes, we have everybody available for the match against Real Valladolid.”
Talking about the next opponent, Real Valladolid, and the match at the Carlos Tartiere, the Coach said that, “it will be a hard game against a strong opponent. We only have a small margin to work with and it’s the moment to take a step forward. I think that we are ready for this battle. We need to keep going like this, not lose hope and fight for every ball as if it were the last.” In addition, regarding the differences between Valladolid during the first and second halves of the season, Anquela said mthat, “I don’t think that they have changed much since Sergio has been there. They still have the same players and the same structure. They are a team that is going for promotion, with strengths and weaknesses. I only think about my team, our attitude, and how we approach this game. We have to cope with what’s at stake and be able to emerge strongly and compete.”
Asked about the importance of Jaime Mata for Real Valladolid, as the main man in attack and top scorer in the division, Juan Antonio Anquela pointed out that, “you always have to study your opponent to know what you are up against. Valladolid are not just about Mata. He is one of the stars, but we mustn’t pay him too much attention. We must only think about Real Oviedo.”
With respect to the importance of having reserves available in recent matches, with players making key contributions from the bench in order to win crucial points, the Real Oviedo Head Coach stated that, “it’s clear we have options to choose from. The team is strong playing in any manner and the main thing that we must always do is compete. We are in the Segunda División and we have to give everything that we have.”
Finally, asked about the key factors for this final stage of the competition, Anquela said that, “we need to be calm and avoid over-analysis. It is a long season and we must only look at our own matters, do our work, and believe in what we are doing. The team that believes and is aware of what they need to do will do it. I have been stressing the keys to success all year. I hope that there are many more to come after this match. It’s a long season, and you have to fight until the last second. If we begin to analyse it now, then we will be making a mistake. It’s easy to get here, but the most difficult thing is to maintain it. The team which believes in itself and looks no further than itself is the one that will triumph. We won’t have any easy matches,” he concluded.
