Real Oviedo trainer Juan Antonio Anquela came to the press room this morning after team's training session in El Requexón
The coach, who recognized the victims of the attack in Barcelona, wanted to express his sorrow for what has occurred recently. "We all know how the country is right now, as an individual and in the name of Real Oviedo, I offer my condolences to all the people who are suffering. It's far more important than a football match. We share the pain and the feelings of those who are going through hard times".
Anquela began by evaluating the state of the team as they go into their LaLiga 123 debut, saying that "we are arriving well, but in football you never know what you are going to find or what could happen. We are prepared to face this game and do so in the best way possible. We are going to bring a competitive team, and now we need to reflect that on the playing field this Sunday".
Considering any possible incorporations that have yet to arrive, the trainer has made it clear that "it's a question for Monday, because right now all that interests me is the game in two days. It's a question of priorities, and right now the priority is Rayo Vallecano. We have people within the club that work a lot and work well, and I am sure we will bring in a good player, or two, but we shouldn't distract ourselves with that".
Regarding their first rival, Anquela emphasized that "here there aren't any teams that we play against and know we will win. If we remember that, we will head down the right path. It is never easy to beat someone here, you have to play ninety minutes, work like dogs and later have the luck that is necessary in a game of football. The first is non-negotiable, the luck depends on many factors.
In regards to the players from the affiliate side that continue to train with the first team, Anquela stated that "Viti and Edu Cortina continue, I don't know if they will be called up or if they will play. The rest have gone back because there are players in their positions".
When asked about their style of play against Rayo Vallecano, the Real Oviedo trainer explained that "Rayo is a very good team, they played an incredible final few games of the season, and this year they will continue in the same trajectory, no doubt about it. We will be faithful to what we have worked on".
Finally, concerning the LaLiga debut in the Carlos Tartiere, the trainer said "I don't know what I have, I don't sleep, for the past week I wake up time and time again. It's the responsibility, and hopefully I never stop feeling this, it would be a good indication that we are in the fight and competing".
