Real Oviedo returned home following two consecutive away matches, and they provided their fans with a professional victory to mark the occasion, which those in attendance thoroughly enjoyed.
Anquela made two changes to his starting eleven, including the introduction of Alfonso Herrero in place of Juan Carlos in goal. Real Oviedo took the lead thanks to Carlos Hernández’s header from a short corner. This goal was well deserved as the Asturians had enjoyed huge amounts of possession and dominated the early stages of the match. However, the first setback would arrive a few minutes later, with Aarón Ñíguez forced off through injury after 30 minutes, to be replaced by Yeboah. CD Numancia then scored an equaliser from a set piece prior to halftime.
Real Oviedo began the second half strongly, continuing their first-half domination with many forays into the opposition area. Yeboah had a goal disallowed for offside. The home side pushing forward in attack translated
into Johannesson firing against the crossbar, before the away side turned their ball into their own net to make the score 2-1. Real Oviedo still weren’t satisfied, however, as they were feeling comfortable and were keeping possession of the ball. Mossa had a chance to add a third following a one-two with Saúl, but the defence denied him just as he was about to pull the trigger. Nevertheless, the third did arrive shortly afterwards, as Linares headed home Saúl Berjón’s free kick. The home side continued to play good football and create chances, although Numancia would have the final chance of the match, hitting the bar in added time.
The crowd at the Carlos Tartiere was finally able to enjoy another victory from their side. The team will return to training tomorrow at 10:30, at El Requexón.
