Belief Until the Very End

Real Oviedo finally won away from home again, as they came from behind in a match in which they had gone 1-0 down in the first half

With Johannesson away with his national team, Anquela had no other option but to tinker with his starting eleven at the Nou Estadi. He changed his eleven and the formation. In the first half he employed four in defence, with Forlín holding just in front.

Real Oviedo’s early chances fell to Aarón’s feet. First, he went close following a one-two with Saúl, before Dimitrievski trapped another shot at the second attempt. Linares then had a chance, but fired wide under pressure from three Catalan defenders. The referee then awarded a penalty in favour of the Asturians, but Saúl Berjón failed to convert from the spot. Ramón Folch had the next clear opportunity from a header, but it went just wide. It was then that Nàstic de Tarragona won their own penalty, which they managed to convert to open the scoring. Real Oviedo weathered the storm until halftime, and in the second half everything would change.

Following a change in formation to return to a defence with three centre backs which provided more freedom to Mossa and Cotugno in attack, Real Oviedo got back to their best. The first two moves saw two very similar
chances, with Mossa crossing in for Linares on both occasions. Dimitrievski tipped a fine Linares effort around the post for a corner. Real Oviedo pushed forward in search of the equaliser. Following a short corner routine between Saúl Berjón and Aarón Ñíguez, it would be Carlos Hernández who made the score 1-1. Nàstic went looking to reclaim the lead, but it would eventually be Real Oviedo who took home the three points. Mossa was brought down for yet another penalty, and it was converted by Aarón to seal a 2-1 victory in added time.

These were three crucial points earnt away from the Carlos Tartiere, as the team continues to grow through hard work.
