Despite the match being scheduled for a late Monday night, the home fans turned out in force to see Real Oviedo face Real Zaragoza, and the team matched the standard of their fans during the first half hour of the match.

Real Oviedo made two changes to the side which had started the last match in Albacete, with Forlín and Pucko replacing Rocha and Yeboah, and the home side didn’t take long to take the lead. Aarón scored a great goal, curling home a free kick barely five minutes into the encounter. Toché added a second, after the home side had missed a couple of clear chances to extend their lead. The forward made the most of a poor clearance to increase the lead to 2-0 before the half-hour mark. Real Zaragoza responded immediately, cutting the lead to 2-1, before Zapater equalised from a free kick. The teams reached halftime with the score 2-2, and Real Oviedo left the field without their earlier advantage.

In the second half both teams cut down on their open, attacking play, and tried to reduce their mistakes. Juan Carlos was called into action on two occasions, including denying Borja Iglesias from a one-on-one, to earn Real Oviedo a point. Real Oviedo sealed a draw in front of their own fans without creating too much more in attack, but again picking up points at the Carlos Tartiere.
