Real Oviedo finish Liga Adelante Gameweek 39 one point short of promotion play-off spots. The Blues had done the most difficult thing: taking the lead in an away game against a needy UD Almería, who are battling to avoid relegation.
Los Carbayones performed well in the first half, having chances to have taken the lead before half time. In the first seven minutes of the game, Real Oviedo got six corner kicks as Los Carbayones started the game overcoming rivals in intensity. In a set pieces play, Casto saved first chance from Real Oviedo and, soon after, Toché could not connect with a brilliant low-ball assist from Borja Valle that the local defence managed to clear. Then it was Real Oviedo's top goalscorer who made another attempt, but his shot went narrowly wide. After Casto had saved another shot from Toché, Jon Erice tried his luck with a long range shot aimed at the top corner of goal, but the local goalkeeper punched it off to corner kick.
In the second half, the Blues kept the control of the game and it gave way to Linares' goal. Fernández passed the ball onto the right wing, where Míchel whipped a cross into the box for Linares to score with a brilliant header. Soon after, UD Almeria reacted as less than ten minutes later they equalised. Quique scored to make it 1-1, then the locals turned it around with Uche's goal. Finally, as Real Oviedo were all out in search of a late equaliser, Chuli netted in the final 3-1.
Real Oviedo take on Leganés next Thursday at 21:00 at Estadio Carlos Tartiere.
