Today saw a midweek fixture for Real Oviedo as Burgos visited the Carlos Tartiere. The visitors won the match 3-1.
Los Azules made three changes for tonight's match, lining up with Femenías; Lucas, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Pierre; Jirka, Jimmy, Brugman, Borja Sánchez; Joni Montiel and Borja Bastón. It would not prove to be their night, despite scoring an equalising goal in the second half.
The first half was a hard-fought encounter, with a lot of play in the centre of the pitch and Real Oviedo struggling to threaten Alfonso Herrero in the Burgos goal. Burgos struck first through Guillermo, and the team from the capital of Asturias tried to respond but without any luck.
The Asturians began to pose more of a threat than the away side in the second half, linking up to break through the Burgos lines and seeing chances start to arrive. Borja Sánchez was denied by the crossbar and the post following some good play from Jirka. Borja Bastón did however manage to hit the back of the net, from a penalty after VAR checked a foul on Jirka in the box. With the scores 1-1 Ziganda turned to his bench and brought on Matheus and Pombo. The goal brought new life and tempo to Real Oviedo, who were relentless in search of the lead, but Burgos hit back with another Guillermo goal. Los Azules then hit the woodwork twice more. Obeng came on in the final change for the hosts, and the visitors would add a third goal.
Real Oviedo fell to defeat tonight at the Carlos Tartiere. The next match will see them travel to El Toralín to face Ponferradina.
