Real Oviedo welcomed Elche CF to the Carlos Tartiere today in Matchday 31 of LaLiga Hypermotion, going into the game in need of a win to bring an end to the recent poor run of form. The evening began with the renaming of the Santi Cazorla Directors' Box. Head Coach Javi Calleja made a few changes for tonight's encounter, opting for a starting eleven made up of Aarón Escandell, Nacho Vidal, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Pomares, De la Hoz, Cazorla, Seoane, Chaira, Viñas, and Alemão.

The Asturians started well and Viñas twice went close to opening the scoring. However, one of Real Oviedo's attacks was capitalised on by Elche CF, who took the lead on the counter attack. Josan curled the ball into the bottom corner in the 22nd minute to make the score 1-0. Los Carbayones looked to hit back immediately following the setback, and Chaira's deflected effort went just over the bar.

After the interval Aarón made a spectacular stop to keep the team's hopes alive. Colombatto and Hassan came on in the 58th minute, and 7 minutes later Real Oviedo found an equaliser. The referee awarded a penalty for handball and Cazorla made no mistake from the spot. With the scores level, Alemão went close to sending the Tartiere wild. Following some fine wing play by Hassan, the Brazilian forward's volleyed effort went just wide of the post. The match could have gone either way in the final minutes, but neither side found the finishing touch to seal the win.

Real Oviedo will look to get back to winning ways against Granada next time out.
