Real Oviedo returned to the Carlos Tartiere this Monday for Matchday 26 in LaLiga Hypermotion. Los Azules were looking to make a statement and capitalise on results elsewhere in order to move closer to the top of the table. Following a long week's training, Javi Calleja opted for a starting eleven made up of Aarón Escandell, Pomares, Calvo, Costas, Nacho Vidal, César de la Hoz, Colombatto, Portillo, Sebas Moyano, Paulino, and Alemão.

Los Azules dominated and controlled the majority of the first half. The team was on top right from the outset, and Dani Calvo was the first to go close, firing wide from a corner. A good break from Nacho Vidal down the right then saw Paulino unable to find the target. CD Eldense looked to sit back and threaten on the counter attack.

Paraschiv came on for Paulino de la Fuente after the interval as the Asturians looked to create more danger. The second half was a tighter affair and Los Azules were not able to dominate so much nor threaten with great frequency. Calleja decided to introduce a greater attacking threat, bringing on Hassan and Seoane, but the match remained all-square. In the final stages of the encounter, the referee decided not to award a penalty for a blatant handball in the area, having interpreted that there was a foul in the build-up. Neither the crowd at the Carlos Tartiere nor the players understood the decision, but the decision remained the same. Real Oviedo pushed forward in the final minutes with Cazorla now out on the pitch, but the goal did not arrive.

Full-time was greeted by frustration at the Tartiere, but the ground will be full once more at 21:00 this Sunday when Real Oviedo come up against Albacete BP.
