The second round of the Copa del Rey took Real Oviedo to La Rosaleda for the first of two away fixtures against Málaga this week. The Andalusian side secured a 1-0 victory after extra time.
The team from the capital of Asturias emerged at La Rosaleda with a starting eleven made up of Femenías; Johannesson, Carlos Hernández, Arribas, Mossa; Sangalli, Jimmy, Aburjania, Cedric; Obeng and Riki. The tie was a hard-fought encounter, with neither side dominating during the first ninety minutes. The first half saw opportunities for both teams, but the score was 0-0 at the interval. After half-time, both teams continued to push to break the deadlock, but they could not convert their chances. Nahuel and Viti, and later Borja Valle and Javi Mier, were the substitutes used by Ziganda during the 90 minutes of normal time. With the scorelinestill 0-0, extra time was needed, and the clash continued in much the same vein, with both sides sharing the play and the chances. Málaga made the most of a one-off opportunity, converting from a rebound and claiming the win. Javi Mier would see a red card, leaving Real Oviedo with ten men, while Grippo would come on in the final substitution.
Los Azules will return to La Rosaleda this Saturday. The LaLiga fixture against the same opponent will kick off at 18:15.
