The unjust dismissal of Rocha in the first half proved key, in a match in which Linares put Real Oviedo ahead but they were unable to hold onto their lead

Sometimes in football, even when you compete and play very well, you can't quite get the win. Today's match at the Ramón de Carranza was a perfect example. Real Oviedo were forced to play with ten men for fifty minutes, managed to take the lead despite their numerical disadvantage, but eventually went home empty-handed.
Anquela opted for the same starting eleven as in the previous match. Cádiz emerged strongly for the match and tested Alfonso, who was required to make a fine save to deny the home side's first shot of the match. Real Oviedo found it difficult to begin with, but gradually created more and more danger. The first chance, which arrived after fine interplay between Saúl, Mossa and Aarón, resulted in a corner. With the Asturians now dominating the encounter, increasing their possession and in control of the match, then came the passage of play which saw referee Pulido Santana produce a straight red card for Rocha. The tackle, which was within Cádiz's own half, received a more than excessive punishment. From that moment on, and with one less player, Real Oviedo had to work twice as hard until the break.
Early in the second half, Linares headed home from Saúl Berjón's wide free kick to make the score 1-0. Anquela made some changes to try to freshen up the team after all their hard work, but Cádiz began to increase the pressure as the minutes ticked by, and slowly opened up the Oviedistas. Real Oviedo had a chance to make it 2-0, with Christian Fernández heading wide when free in the box, and shortly afterwards Cádiz found an equaliser. They then scored a second, winning goal. Real Oviedo were ultimately unable to defend their lead and left the Carranza without any reward from a match affected by the unfair refereeing decision to send off David Rocha.
