'Lángara: The Lord of the Goals' is the name of a short book written in English and aimed at a younger audience. It tells the tale of Isidro Lángara's footballing career, which saw him become the greatest Spanish goalscorer in history.
The book, which was written by Miguel Sanz Ovies and James Harriman, was edited by the Real Oviedo Foundation. The foreword was written by British journalist Sid Lowe, while the epilogue was provided by members of the Lángara family.
Participants in the Real Oviedo summer camps will all receive a copy of the book, which will help them to improve their English in an entertaining manner, as well as allowing them to learn about a huge part of Real Oviedo's history.
The book is 48 pages long and features a large number of illustrations of the Asturian side's great centre forward. It will be available for purchase soon from the official Real Oviedo club shops, both in the physical stores, and on the website.
Isidro Lángara is the best Spanish goalscorer of all time, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
In 1930, at the age of just 18, Lángara began his professional career at Real Oviedo. He would go on to become Spanish First Division top scorer in three consecutive seasons, and was considered to be the best centre forward on the planet following his performances at the 1934 World Cup.
