The Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere today played host to the presentation of Omar Ramos as a new Real Oviedo player.
The new signing, who has now trained twice with ‘Los Azules’, was welcomed to Real Oviedo by Club President Jorge Menéndez Vallina. The President said that, “we’ve been trying to make this happen for a long while. Omar is a great player with a lot of experience. He’s played 120 games in the Primera División and been promoted, and we hope that he’ll give us a lot of glorious afternoons.”
The winger began by admitting that, “I had several offers, but Real Oviedo wanted me right from the start. I’m coming to a great club with a great fan base, and I think it’s a good opportunity to keep growing.”
Having started to train under Juan Antonio Anquela, the attacker commented that, “I’ve had a very good reception. From the current squad I’d played with Nereo (Champagne) before and with Dani (Bautista), the club delegate, and they’re both looking out for me.”
Regarding his adaptation to the team and his chances of getting minutes against Almería this Saturday, Omar believes that, “I need to get sharpness. I’ve been training for a while; in the mornings with a personal trainer and in the afternoons with a team from the Tercera División in the Canary Islands. It’s true that you notice a difference in the training sessions, but I don’t feel bad. Despite all that, it’s the Coach who has to decide. If he trusts in me then I’m ready to play.”
Omar Ramos, who saw the match between Real Oviedo and Las Palmas, highlighted that his new team “play good football and has good players.” He also pointed out that, “I’m another player. I’m here to help and take it a game at a time. We want to finish as high as possible.”
With respect to his positional preferences, Omar Ramos said that, “it’s true that I’ve often played on the wing cutting in onto my stronger foot. It’s a position I feel good in, but I will play wherever the Coach puts me.”
Finally, asked about his experiences and what the keys to having a great year are, Omar believes that, “it’s all about forming a group, being united and keeping the fans with us. The key is a united changing room,” concluded the winger. Omar Ramos has chosen the squad number 7, and posed with it before the Press.
