Real Oviedo remain undefeated, although they could have got a better result at Montilivi. The Blues picked one point to Girona FC, who were a hard opponent to beat right from kick-off.
Diego Aguirre made the first attempt with a shot that the local defence cleared in Sergio Egea’s side’s first attack. Little by little Girona FC got hold of the ball, but Real Oviedo started to be more in control with the passing of time. The next Blues approach was made by Toché, but the local defenders managed to prevent him from striking. Real Oviedo showed defensive consistency and began to keep possession. Becerra blocked a shot by Susaeta just before a goalless half time.
In the second half, Real Oviedo looked more confident. The Blues’ determination got them a clear chance after a cross by Aguirre that could not be met by Toché in front of Becerra’s goal. Soon after, Girona FC keeper had to save another attempt by Real Oviedo top scorer and then a penalty kick was awarded to Real Oviedo. Edu Bedia was tripped in the penalty box and Susaeta scored from the penalty spot.
Then, Girona FC started to attack steadily and Esteban made a save to prevent them from equalising. After an indirect free-kick where Susaeta was blocked on the wall, Alcalá levelled the score. Real Oviedo had a couple of opportunities on the counter that could have resulted in a Blues win, but the game came to an end with a one all draw and both teams earned a point.
Therefore, Real Oviedo extend their unbeaten run to eleven fixtures.
