The game got underway amid a great atmosphere being created by the Real Oviedo fans who were tucked into the corner on the left hand side of the stadium.

Real Oviedo arrived at El Molinon hoping to avenge last seasons drubbing and to try and get back to normality after the craziness last week at the Carlos Tartiere when the game against Racing Ferrol was abandoned at half time. Los Carbayones went into this match without leading scorer Diego Cervero after his rather harsh red card last week. Alain started the game up front with Susaeta preferred to Sergio Garcia on the right and Eneko retaining his place on the left.

The game got underway amid a great atmosphere being created by the Real Oviedo fans who were tucked into the corner on the left hand side of the stadium.

It was Sporting B though who made the better start and could have gone ahead inside 2 minutes when Yacine fired wide from Jony’s low cross. Yacine again went close 10 minutes later when he beat the offside trap only for his shot to be well saved by Real Oviedo keeper Orlando, Jony fluffed the rebound.

It wasn’t until the 25th minute when the visitors created their 1st chance and it was a good one. Susaeta’s corner from the right found Pardo unmarked 6 yards out but he could only head over. It was a great chance and one the central defender will feel he should have done better with. Real Oviedo were growing in confidence as the half went on. Ivan Rubio had the next chance, again from a corner when Eneko’s low rehearsed delivery found him free on the penalty spot, but Rubio’s shot was poor and cleared the cross bar.

Eneko himself had a good chance 5 minutes before the interval when Rubio’s cross from the right found him, but Eneko screwed his shot wide of the far post.

Despite Real Oviedo’s improvement as the half went on, the hosts always carried a threat particularly on the counter attack and just on the stroke of half time Sporting B took the lead.Winger Juan Mera beat left back Alvaro before whipping in a cross and Pablo Perez had the simple task of chesting in from 1 yard. It came against the run of play, but Real Oviedo had been warned previously by Sporting’s tricky wingers.

The 2nd half started much the same as the 1st with Sporting B looking the brighter in the opening exchanges and were unlucky not to double their advantage when Pablo Perez latched onto a through ball and fired home left footed but a rather fortunate offside flag came to Real Oviedo’s rescue. The game was  turning increasingly scrappy as the half went on with neither side able to fashion out any attempts on goal until around the 70 minute mark when substitute Sene was caught in possession by Yacine and he fed midfielder Zambrano who shot just wide. Real Oviedo really needed a spark, a moment of magic. This duly arrived 18 minutes from time when out of nothing Los Carbayones drew level with a stunning equaliser from Susaeta. The right winger received the ball on his favoured right flank before cutting inside and unleashing an unstoppable curling shot into the far top corner of the net. This sent the players and Real Oviedo fans in the corner into absolute pandemonium. It really was a stunning goal. It seemed to boost Real Oviedo who were now a yard sharper and playing with more belief. Sene almost put Los Carbayones ahead 10 minutes from time but his volley from 6 yards was wonderfully blocked by Sporting B full back Alberto. This was however Real Oviedo’s last chance and just as the game seemed to be destined for a draw, disaster struck in the 93rd and last minute of the game. The cross eluded everyone in the penalty area and was drifting out of play but Juan Mera chased down and kept the ball in play or so he thought. After twisting and turned Pardo inside and out, he worked himself a shooting position on his left foot and unleashed a powerful shot into the far bottom corner to break Real Oviedo hearts. The Sporting B players on the other hand were absolutely jubilant. TV replays clearly showed the ball had crossed the line before Mera clawed it back and the goal should not have stood which just adds insult to injury. It was a horrible way to lose any game in particular a game of this magnitude. This is no time to feel sorry for ourselves though.  Next week we travel to face Caudal in our last game before the winter break. This is already looking like a massive game and one your feel we must surely get 3 points from if we are to get our title hopes back on track.
