The Press Room at El Requexón today saw Rodri Ríos respond to the questions put to him by members of the Press.
"I felt like a little boy; I was hungry to get back" admitted the Real Oviedo striker, after Tuesday's match saw him get game time for the first time since his injury. Even though "it was only a few minutes", the attacker reasoned that "we have to take it step by step."
With respect to his physical condition, Rodri Ríos declared that "I am at about 70%. You really get up to pace by playing, but I'll be up to speed within two or three matches."
Asked about the team's form in terms of performances and the atmosphere surrounding it, the striker said that "we are working hard and you can see that in the results. I think it's better to come into a team that's doing well. We are creating chances and that is important for a forward."
Regarding whether he prefers to play as a lone striker or alongside another front man, Rodri commented that "I have been able to play in both ways and feel comfortable either way. If I play alone up there then I will have to fight with the defence, and it is all easier when you have somebody else with you." In addition, discussing the role he could play alongside Blanco Leschuk, Rodri stated that "I think I'll be able to play alongside Gustavo and it could help me to make the goals arrive."
Ahead of Monday's game against Almería, the striker highlighted that "it's the most important match to get three points from. We have to take it one game at a time and look to put together wins. That is the first step, and then we will see if we are up there."
Finally, asked what Ziganda had brought to the team, Rodri explained that it was "organisation and defensive discipline, as you can see. The Coach arrived with little time to work with, we salvaged the season, and I think that our work is being reflected in the points this season. You can see good, hard work out on the pitch."
