Real Oviedo debuted at the Carlos Tartiere in a competitive match against RC Deportivo de La Coruña, coming up against a First Division side for the first time this preseason. Anquela stuck with the same starting eleven for the whole of the first half, and only brought on Carlos Hernández in place of Verdés at the break, before gradually giving minutes to the rest of the squad. Real Oviedo stood up to the early threat from Deportivo, who gradually increased their possession of the ball, but were unable to trouble Juan Carlos in the home goal. Verdés and Valentini managed to see off the threat of Andone. Real Oviedo also failed to create much in attack, only really coming close from set pieces.
In the second half, Tytón got his hands to a fine ball into the heart of the box from Johannesson. Both Anquela and Pepe Mel began to shuffle their packs. On the field, the clearest chance for Los Azules fell to Mossa, but his back-post header went wide. Alfonso came on in place of Juan Carlos but was only called on to intervene on one occasion, from a Deportivo half-chance.
This was a further goalless draw, during a preseason in which Real Oviedo are yet to suffer defeat.
