Real Oviedo returned to Asturias empty-handed having suffered another defeat away from the Carlos Tartiere. The match took place before a great atmosphere at the Santo Domingo including five hundred travelling away fans. Anquela opted for the same eleven which had beaten Córdoba in the previous match.

Toché started the match despite the knock he had suffered in the days leading up to this game, and the early chances fell to the away side. First there were a couple of set piece chances, before a Saúl Berjón shot went wide of the left-hand upright. Finally, some fine play from Aarón Ñíguez was brought to an end by the defence when he was through one-on-one with Casto. However, the clearest chance to take the lead came to Toché, who headed just wide. The forward was forced off through injury shortly afterwards. Owusu replaced the striker half an hour into the clash, and Alcorcón took the lead five minutes later. Despite this, Real Oviedo had another chance on the stroke of halftime, when Mossa’s cross from the by-line flashed across the face of goal with no takers at the back post.

In the second half, Alcorcón increased their presence in attack. Real Oviedo put together a move that could have led to the equaliser, but Aarón delayed his shot too much and the defence intervened, before Alcorcón counter-attacked and doubled their lead from the very same passage of play. Anquela opted to bring on Yeboah and Linares from the bench as he searched for a reaction, but Real Oviedo were unable to create enough in attack. Alcorcón struck the post, before Casto made a fine save to prevent Owusu from cutting the deficit to 2-1.

This was another defeat, and one which meant Real Oviedo could not extend the positive atmosphere generated in the previous matchday.
