During this afternoon’s training session, Pitch 1 at El Requexón hosted a friendly match between Real Oviedo and the Oman national team. Real Oviedo Coach Javi Calleja had the chance to see his players in action in this first test of the summer. Real Oviedo started with the following players: Aarón Escandell, Lemos, Oier Luengo, Homenchenko, Rahim, Yayo, Sibo, Sebas Moyano, Lamine, Paraschiv and Álex Millán.

After an evenly-matched first half, Sebas Moyano gave Oviedo the lead after converting a penalty that he himself had won. Álex Millan, first with a header, and then with a shot from a short free kick, put the visiting goalkeeping in trouble who with two great saves, prevented the second goal of the match. A few minutes before half-time, and after Calleja substituted Jaime Vázquez at the heart of the defense, Oman equalised with a goal from a corner to make it 1-1.

Our team changed all eleven players for the second half. Braat, Lucas, Dani Calvo, Costas, Pomares, Borja Sánchez, Santi Miguélez, Alberto Del Moral, Masca, Álex Cardero and Alemão lined up on the pitch for the second 45 minutes. The Brazilian striker had the clearest chance with a powerful shot from the edge of the area that Harib Jamil deflected behind for a corner. In the final stretch of the training session, Braat made the save of the afternoon with a spectacular one-on-one save against the Oman striker.

That chance concluded the training session, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The match was a great way for our players to get more time on the pitch. Tomorrow there will be another training session at El Requxón, beginning at 18:30.
