Following Monday's draw with CD Eldense, Real Oviedo were back at the Carlos Tartiere once more today, and went into the encounter with the incentive of getting a victory which would move the side to within one point of the league leaders. Javi opted for a starting eleven made up of Aarón Escandell, Pomares, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Nacho Vidal, De la Hoz, Cardero, Colombatto, Seoane, Chaira, and Alemão.
Real Oviedo emerged strongly and dominated the opening 45 minutes, creating the best chances. In the 19th minute Nacho Vidal sent a warning after a fine break down the wing, but his effort grazed the post. Following several more opportunities Alemão also went close to breaking the deadlock, but his header was denied by the keeper. Just when it seemed that the two teams would go in for half-time with the score 0-0, Nacho Vidal produced a fantastic header to beat the goalkeeper and open the scoring. The 1-0 lead was a just reward for the first-half performance.
Sibo and Portillo entered the fray in place of Seoane and Cardero after the interval to freshen up the team. The team continued to look to extend the lead, while Albacete BP improved in the second half and provided a greater threat. Chaira went close in the 68th minute following some individual play, but the score remained the same. Hassan, Rahim, and Sebas came on in the final stages.
The match finished 1-0, as Real Oviedo picked up a very important win at the Carlos Tartiere and moved to within a point of the leaders.
