Real Oviedo defender, Héctor Verdés, appeared in the Press Room following the latest training session at El Requexón.

Real Oviedo are facing an unusual week, given that the match against Real Zaragoza is on Monday at 21:00. Regarding the scheduling, the Valencian declared that, “despite us not playing at the weekend, the week will be
similar, with very little difference. We just have to change our timetable and be prepared. Every team is having to do it.” Meanwhile, when asked about the defeat in Albacete, the defender said that, “there’s no other option than to move on. We did what we could but we lost the match. Now we have to forget about it and think about Zaragoza.”

With respect to Monday’s match against Zaragoza and the tag of favourites for promotion that the opposition carry, Héctor Verdés stated that “nobody gets to the top on name alone. It doesn’t matter if it’s Zaragoza or Real
Oviedo. You only have to look at the historic clubs that are down in Segunda B. We mustn’t be mistaken. We have a great name and are a great club, but it’s all about what happens on the pitch. We must be at our best
every match. If we relax then we can be got at. We must play each match as if it’s our last. We must show complete respect and play a good match.” With respect to Zaragoza’s key man in attack, Borja Iglesias, the
centre back said that, “they are saying good things about him. He is a complete player, and we must be aware of him.”

Finally, talking about his views on his own form and what it means to be a starter in the centre of defence, the Carbayón player said that “I wanted to achieve this consistency, and thanks to God I have found it, and I am
helping the team. I’ve changed my day-to-day routine a little this year. I use an ice bath every day, and it’s going well for me,” concluded the defender.
