The Escuela de Fútbol Real Oviedo (EFRA) is increasing its programmes to offer training to people with special needs who wish to practise sport and play football.
Conscious of the importance of sport for a person's wellbeing, and following the enormous success of the creation of our LaLiga Genuine side, the Real Oviedo Foundation has had no doubts about taking the step, creating the Real Oviedo Soccer School for Functional Diversity (EFRODIV).
EFRODIV, whose headquarters will be based at the Fundoma facilities in Oviedo, will be a place for people with functional diversity of any gender to practise sport, socialise, have fun, and set personal challenges in a footballing setting, with the aim of helping them to improve their health and personal wellbeing.
Objectives:
-Turn football into a tool for integration.
-Improve self-esteem.
-Improve physical capacities.
-Optimise social abilities through sport (encouragement of respect, teamwork, and equal opportunities, to name but a few.)
-Increased autonomy and discipline.
-Acquisition and development of the knowledge and skills related to the habits and routines of elite sportspeople, including hygiene, nutrition, and training.
-Encourage the feeling of belonging to Real Oviedo.
-Training of capable people.
-Encourage the fun factor.
Our players will train according to the methodology used by our Real Oviedo Genuine side (which participates in LaLiga Genuine). The training plan will however be adapted to the ages and/or footballing level of the different groups, and will be applied by our coaches in each training session. All of our coaches and monitors hold official qualifications allowing them to work with people with functional diversity and in the area of sports training.
We have the objective and the responsibility to optimise the overall development of our sportspeople, so that they possess the necessary tools to reach the highest possible levels at each stage of the formative process. However, at all times the fun aspect will be more of a priority than the competitive side. As a result, no evaluations will be made purely based on performance, neither on an individual nor on a group level.
Facilities:
All of the activity will take place at the Fundoma training facilities, where we have access to an 8-a-side football pitch, sports centre, outdoor futsal pitch, halls, meeting rooms, and outdoor parking.

-Real Club Deportivo de Oviedo: from 14 to 18 years old.
These groups are purely a guideline, aiming to establish homogenous teams which allow the planned sports abilities to be developed. They aim to favour both teamwork and the personal development of each player.
Limited Spaces:
With the aim of offering personalised treatment to each participant and the best possible conditions for practising sports, we will have a maximum of 10 places available in each of our 4 teams for the 2021-22 season.
Timetables:
Training will take place on Thursday afternoons and will last one hour. There are two timeslots:
-1st and 2nd teams: 17:00-18:00.
-3rd and 4th teams: 18:00-19:00.
Aside from the training sessions, the different EFRODIV sides will play friendly matches against one another over the course of the season. Furthermore, we will look for matches against teams from other clubs. Our aim is for our players to experience the thrill and the satisfaction that comes from training and preparing to demonstrate their abilities, learnt during training, against another team out on the pitch, in front of family and friends.
Requirements:
No test of ability is required to sign up to EFRODIV. Everybody with functional diversity who wishes to play football is welcome, regardless of their gender or their level. All applications will be accepted until all the spaces are taken. Once all of the places have been used up, the application period will come to an end. Applications which can not be accepted will move onto a waiting list.
