There was a big-match atmosphere at the Carlos Tartiere today, with Melendi visiting the changing room to give his team some pre-match words of encouragement. Bolo opted for Koba and Montoro in centre midfield, with Enrich partnering Bastón up front.
Real Oviedo completely dominated the first half, pinning back a Levante side who did not threaten Tomeu Nadal's goal. Los Carbayones went close with a double chance in the 12th minute. Just three minutes later Sergi Enrich scored his first goal for the club, sending the Tartiere into euphoria. The Asturians continued to dominate the match, but would not have another chance until gone the thirtieth minute, when Borja Sánchez sent a curled effort just wide of the far post.
Levante made several changes for the second half and the pattern of the match altered somewhat. The visitors got forward and threatened more, finally grabbing an equaliser after a goalmouth scramble. Bolo freshened the team up, bringing on Obeng, Hugo Rama and Javi Mier as the Asturians pushed on for victory. Pepelu received a second yellow card and brought increased hope during the final ten minutes. The team and fans pushed in search of the victory, but the goal did not arrive, despite the chances. The team's effort and hard work was recognised with a standing ovation.
