Since the arrival of Grupo Pachuca, the determination to strengthen our ties outside of Spain has been clear, both with our international shareholders and with the positioning of the Real Oviedo brand and working methodology abroad.

The Supporters’ Weekend has consolidated itself as a key date in the club calendar. This year saw more than a dozen international shareholders from the UK, Ireland, Sweden, China, and the USA travel to Asturias to watch the team’s victory against Eibar and three days full of activities. The story of our shareholders, together with the return home of Santi Cazorla caught the interest of Sky Sports Football Feature Writer Adam Bate, who did not want to miss the chance to see the movement first hand, and described it as an “inspiring story”. The movement continues, and the month of November 2024 will bring the next edition of the Supporters’ Weekend.

The past season also saw us welcome another hundred international shareholders, who came to pay a visit to the club that they usually follow from a distance. Tours of our facilities, watching training sessions at El Requexón, photos and getting to know the players, advice and help with their trips to Asturias…we try to help our international supporters to continue loving Real Oviedo and spreading the club’s name with pride in their own countries.

In addition, this season brought with it the creation of official club accounts on X (Twitter) in English and Arabic, the translation of more than 50 news articles per month to English on the club website, video calls with our international fans, and a continuous project to update our shareholders’ database allow us to stay in contact, communicate, and support our international supporters around the world with their questions and needs.

Meanwhile, Fundoma provides the base for young players from other countries to come and live the Real Oviedo footballing experience and sample the working methodology. In total, around fifty young players have spent the full season developing as players and particularly as people in our club residence. In addition, more than 250 players have spent shorter stays ranging between one week and three months with us. The backgrounds are varied, with more than 50 nationalities, including countries such as Malaysia, Nigeria, Iraq, Bhutan, USA, Belgium, Australia, India and Colombia, to name but a few.

Our collaboration and exchange agreements have also allowed us to show clubs from other nations what Real Oviedo is, while we have received visits from groups of players from the USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Oman, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, India, and Canada. We also mustn't forget our international camps in Panama, Celaya (Mexico), Maryland, New Jersey, Newark and Jacksonville (USA), nor our soccer schools in New Jersey, Libya, Senegal, El Salvador, Playa del Carmen (Mexico), Quindio (Colombia), Oman, and Panama.

Real Oviedo is more alive than ever, and its badge travels around the world with a lot of force.
