Real Oviedo welcomed Real Valladolid, who are coached by former Real Oviedo Head Coach Pacheta, to the Tartiere today. The match was played out in front of an atmosphere befitting the First Division, with more than 1,200 away fans in attendance. Ziganda made three changes to his starting eleven, with Lucas coming in for the suspended Mossa, and Javi Mier and Borja Sánchez replacing Jimmy and Obeng.
Both teams started the encounter strongly, but things soon became more difficult for Real Valladolid, after a VAR check saw Carneto receive a straight red card for a foul on Viti. Real Oviedo took control of the game and were relentless in their attempts to open the scoring. The visitors were unsuccessful in trying to cause damage on the counter attack. The Asturias meanwhile had a lot of shots on goal but they were all either off target, or denied by the away side's defence and goalkeeper. Real Oviedo's threat came through link-up play, Viti's pace, the connection between Borja Sánchez and Brugman, and Borja Bastón, but these did not prove enough to break the deadlock before the interval.
Real Oviedo came out looking for goals in the second half, and they managed to find them. Borja Bastón was first to hit the back of the net, from a shot on the turn, but the goal was disallowed for offside. However, the first goal did arrive from the next passage of play. Javi Mier was played through inside the area, and he placed the ball into the corner to make the score 1-0. The second would arrive shortly afterwards, as Borja Bastón did this time get on the scoresheet. Joni Montiel sealed the win with a powerful right-footed effort into the top corner, making the final score 3-0.
Today's important Real Oviedo victory returned happiness to the Tartiere and the fanbase.
