Real Oviedo went into today's match against Málaga at La Rosaleda with Brugman back in the starting eleven and backed by decent travelling support. They were up against a Málaga side which is fighting against relegation.
After beginning brightly in the opening minutes, with good link-up play, the team found it more difficult as time passed. The hosts pressured the Asturians high up the pitch and moved the ball quickly, even if they weren't able to threaten too much. Los Azules defended well throughout the first half.
Despite not having control of the play, the second half saw Real Oviedo begin to threaten the opponent's goal more. Borja Bastón couldn't quite apply the finishing touch after Luismi had won the ball back well. Joni Montiel and Sangalli came on, and both went close, as did Luismi, but none of them could find the back of the net. Ziganda threw everything at the match, also bringing on Hugo Rama, Matheus, and Obeng. Real Oviedo pushed to the end, but were only able to pick up a point. Los Azules are currently on a run of six consecutive wins and one draw.
