Real Oviedo came up against Real Zaragoza tonight in Matchday 20 in LaLiga Hypermotion. Following the weekend's encounter with Granada CF, Javi Calleja opted to rest several of his usual starters, and selected a starting eleven made up of: Braat, Lucas, Oier Luengo, Dani Calvo, Rahim, Del Moral, Sibo, Sebas Moyano, Portillo, Paraschiv, and Alemão.
A first half to forget. The hosts dominated from the outset, imposing their tempo on the game, while Los Azules were unable to create any danger. After going close on several occasions, Adrián Liso made the score 1-0, with Braat failing to deal with his long-range strike. 10 minutes later, Adri Ares applied the finishing touch to a fine team move to double the home team's advantage. The Asturians looked to recover from the double setback, but their attempts to cut the deficit during the final minutes of the half went unrewarded, and the teams went in for the interval with the score 2-0.
Real Oviedo emerged for the second half a different team, and Calleja made a triple change, bringing on Costas, Cardero, and Chaira. The latter pulled a sensational long-range goal out of his sleeve to reduce the deficit and renew the Oviedistas' belief. That boost came to a temporary halt when the hosts were awarded a penalty minutes later. However, Braat remained in the middle of the goal and kept the spot kick out. Los Carbayones were on top, and in the 65th minute Alemão equalised by heading home from a Cardero cross. Hassan and Paulino came on in the final stages, as the Asturians went in search of the three points. After going close on several occasions, Real Oviedo finally got their deserved reward. Chaira found the back of the net once more in the 92nd minute to seal an epic comeback which provided Los Azules with a third consecutive win.
