Real Oviedo had been looking forward to returning to the Tartiere for today's Matchday 3 LaLiga Hypermotion encounter. Los Carbayones were up against Real Racing Club in the first home match of the season, and the team went into the clash looking to move onto 7 points from the first 9 available. After picking up a point in Castellón last time out, Javi Calleja made changes and opted for a starting eleven made up of Aarón Escandell, Rahim, Costas, Dani Calvo, Oier Luengo, Cazorla, Del Moral, Sebas Moyano, Hassan, Chaira, and Alemão.
Things couldn't have got off to a better start for the Asturians, with the side taking the lead in the 11th minute. New signing Ilyas Chaira marked his debut with a goal, curling home from outside the box to send the crowd wild. However, the joy would not last, with Andrés Martín scoring for the visitors in both the 25th and 26th minutes to turn the match on its head. Racing went in for the interval with a 2-1 lead.
Javi Calleja made a triple change at halftime to try to alter the course of the encounter, bringing on Colombatto, Dotor, and Lucas Ahijado. Alemão had the opportunity to equalise in the 50th minute, but his left-footed shot was deflected for a corner. Seven minutes later, Arana went close for the away side, but he fired just over the bar.
Masca and Paulino de la Fuente entered the fray in an attempt to change the pattern of the match, but Racing went on to extend their lead. Michelin's 75th minute shot from outside the box found the back of the net, and extinguished Los Carbayones' hopes of a comeback. Real Oviedo kept pushing to the end, going close through Alemão and Colombatto, but the match would ultimately end 3-1.
Now it's time for the team to reset and begin preparations for the next Liga Hypermotion clash: the Asturian derby against Real Sporting de Gijón.
