A Narrow Defeat in the First LaLiga Hypermotion Match

A new season got underway for Real Oviedo in LaLiga Hypermotion today, with Los Azules coming up against Tenerife at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López. Head Coach Álvaro Cervera opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Lucas, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Viti, Camarasa, Jimmy, Sebas Moyano, Hugo Rama and Borja Bastón.

 

The opening stages were even, with mutual respect between both sides on show, and barely any clear chances. Nonetheless, virtually the first clear opportunity for the hosts ended in a goal. Enric Gallego converted from the rebound following a fine Leo Román save to make the score 1-0 in the 18th minute.

 

Los Carbayones tried to bounce back after going behind, but minutes later they would receive another piece of bad news. Lucas Ahijado was forced off the field through injury following a strong tackle from Nacho in the 26th minute, with Oier Luengo coming on in his place at right back. Real Oviedo looked to hit back as quickly as possible, with Hugo Rama's long-range effort going close to levelling the scoring.

 

Álvaro Cervera made a double change during the halftime interval, with Mario Hernández and Paulino de la Fuente coming on in place of Dani Calvo and Hugo Rama. Borja Bastón would go closest for Los Azules in the 57th minute, meeting a fine left-wing cross from Bretones spectacularly, but his effort struck the crossbar.

 

Luck was not on Real Oviedo's side, and the score remained 1-0. Alemão and Romario Ibarra would also enter the fray from the bench in the search to turn the encounter around. The Asturians kept going to the death, but were unable to create any clear chances to equalise.

 

The team will travel back to Asturias tomorrow and return to training on Wednesday, as they prepare for the next LaLiga Hypermotion fixture. Los Carbayones will face Racing de Ferrol at 17:00 on Sunday, in the first match at the Carlos Tartiere this season.
