Real Oviedo were back at the Carlos Tartiere this Sunday, as they went into their final home match of the season. Los Azules went into the encounter off the back of the draw in the Asturian derby, and were up against Racing de Santander in Matchday 41 in LaLiga SmartBank. Álvaro Cervera opted for a starting eleven made up of Braat, Lucas, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Pomares, Borja Sánchez, Mangel, Camarasa, Moro, Borja Bastón and Leo Sequeira.

The Asturians were looking to send their fans off with a victory, and showed it right from the outset. Raúl Moro was one of the standout players in the match, and in the 9th minute he would create the first chance. A fine run down the wing from Moro would see him slip the ball through to Borja Bastón, but the forward's effort was kept out by a fine save.

Racing did not manage to threaten Braat in the Real Oviedo goal, and Borja Sánchez would be next to go close for Real Oviedo. The number 10 curled a fine effort from the edge of the box just over the bar. Just two minutes later, Dani Calvo headed home perfectly from a Camarasa corner to open the scoring. The Oviedistas in attendance at the Tartiere were delighted to see their team go in for the interval with a 1-0 lead.

Abel Bretones replaced Pomares at left back for the second half, but Álvaro Cervera's side's game plan remained the same. In the 47th minute Sequeira would go close to doubling the lead following some fine play by Moro, but his shot was kept out by Ezkieta. Álvaro Cervera made more changes as the minutes ticked by, with Masca, Rama, and Vallejo coming on for Leo Sequeira, Borja Sánchez, and Borja Bastón. The substitutions freshened the team up, with Los Azules continuing to look to threaten down the wings, but the crosses could not find their targets.

The match finished 1-0, with Real Oviedo picking up a final victory at home. This win sees the team move up to seventh place with 59 points, just above Andorra. Los Azules will play their final LaLiga SmartBank match of the season away at U.D. Levante next time out.
