Real Oviedo and CD Lugo went head-to-head at Anxo Carro today, in Matchday 32 of LaLiga SmartBank. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Asturians went into the match in front of 1,500 travelling Oviedistas with a starting eleven made up of Femenías; Lucas, Rodri Tarín, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Mossa; Brugman, Jimmy; Jirka, Hugo Rama and Borja Bastón, opting for a back five to counteract the Galician side's threat. Lugo dominated the first twenty minutes, but Los Azules defended well and Femenías was barely called into action. Los Carbayones did not manage to create any danger in attack, however. Lucas had the best chance of the first half, but fired over the bar after Mossa cut the ball back to him.
Ziganda made a triple change for the second half, bringing on Viti, Javi Mier and Borja Sánchez as he altered the formation. The hosts emerged strongly once more, taking the lead from a dead ball. Los Azules used up their remaining substitutions to bring on Joni Montiel and Matheus Aiás, as they pushed forward. Brugman tried his luck twice from range, before Borja Sánchez fired just wide from the rebound from a Javi Mier strike. VAR then intervened to award Real Oviedo a penalty for a handball. The first penalty had to be repeated after the keeper stepped off his line. Borja Bastón eventually converted to enable the side to take home a point from Anxo Carro.
