Real Oviedo picked up their first win of the season this afternoon at the NCarlos Tartiere, in a match in which the team found it difficult to open up the Catalan side’s defence in the opening stages. The first clear chance fell to Christian Fernández, with a header at the back post. Johannesson had the next chance, receiving a fine pass from Saúl which left him one-on-one with Edgar Badía, but the keeper saved his shot. The first goal of the match then arrived from the boots of Toché. Following a good cross from Christian Fernández, the Real Oviedo forward met the ball with a wonderful overhead kick to score his first goal of the season. Juan Carlos then had to make a fine save to prevent the equaliser. Linares responded
by twisting and turning and firing in a good shot, which the Reus keeper just got a hand to. Verdés had the last chance of the half, meeting a corner with his head.
Anquela was forced into two substitutions through injury at halftime, bringing on Pucko and Rocha in place of Johannesson and Hidi. The winger brought the right wing to life in the early stages of the second half, and he created the first few chances including Toché’s second goal. He met the Slovenian’s pass at the front post to make the score 2-0. Saúl Berjón had a chance for 3-0 following some fine individual play, curling a shot towards the top corner which Edgar Badía kept out for a corner. The Real Oviedo winger then had another go, trying his luck from the right wing on a counter attack, but he was again denied by the Reus keeper. The third and final goal of the game came from Rocha, whose perfect direct free kick sealed the victory.
The team will train tomorrow, from 10:30, at El Requexón.
