First stop: the Carlos Tartiere. This Tuesday saw Real Oviedo play the first of two matches this week, and they came up against CD Mirandés. Los Azules were up against the side that went into the encounter second in the division, and went into the fixture with the aim of getting the victory and continuing to climb the table. Javi Calleja opted for a starting eleven of Aarón Escandell, Rahim, Dani Calvo, Costas, Lemos, Colombatto, Cazorla, Seoane, Chaira, Hassan, and Alemão.
The pattern of the match was clear right from the kick-off. Los Carbayones dominated from the outset, while the visitors looked to capitalise on mistakes to threaten. The first chance arrived before the fifteen-minute mark. A fine team move started by Chaira passed through Cazorla and Alemão, before Lemos' shot deflected off a defender for a corner. This passage of play was followed by the biggest setback of the first half. David Costas was forced off through injury, and had to be replaced by Jaime Vázquez. Despite the blow, Real Oviedo continued to push on, and would be doubly rewarded during the final moments of the half. In the 41st minute Alemão headed home from a fine Chaira cross from the left wing, to open the scoring. In first-half stoppage time Hassan capitalised on a rebound to double the lead and prompt delight amongst the Oviedistas. The two teams went in for the interval with the score 2-0.
The Gaffer turned to his bench after the break, bringing on Sebas and Del Moral in place of Chaira and Seoane. Real Oviedo went close to adding a third on several occasions, but eventually had to wait until the 73rd minute, when substitute Álex Cardero pounced on a loose ball in the area to make it 3-0. It was the academy graduate's first goal at the Carlos Tartiere, as he completed the dream of a boy who passed through every age group of the club's academy. The Tartiere crowd was in party mode, and there was still time for a fourth. Paraschiv headed home to add a fourth and final goal for the Asturians. In the final moments Tomeo cut the deficit for Mirandés, but the match ended 4-1.
This evening's big victory at the Tartiere left the team temporarily second in the table, with 19 points.
