Real Oviedo travelled to Ferrol this Sunday for Matchday 18 in LaLiga Hypermotion. Los Azules went into the encounter aware of the need to pick up three points and get back to winning ways at A Malata. Javi Calleja opted for a starting eleven made up of: Aarón Escandell, Lucas, Dani Calvo, Costas, Pomares, Colombatto, Cazorla, Seoane, Chaira, Alemão, and Viñas.

The opening stages of the encounter were fairly even, with Los Carbayones looking to impose their playing style, but the Asturians suffered a setback in the 17th minute, as Seoane was forced off through injury. A collision with a Racing de Ferrol player forced the midfielder to be replaced by Sibo. As the minutes ticked by, Real Oviedo began to create more danger, with the first real opportunity arriving in the 25th minute. Alemão tried his luck from a loose ball inside the six-yard box, but his effort was cleared. Colombatto would be next to go close, with his shot from the edge of the box striking the woodwork. Los Carbayones continued to push, and would finally get their reward in the 42nd minute as Chaira was brought down inside the box. Santi Cazorla stepped up to the spot and made no mistake, in what was a special moment, as the local hero scored his first Real Oviedo goal. Javi Calleja's side had chances to extend their lead, but in the end the first half concluded with the score 1-0.

Los Azules didn't take their foot off the accelerator after the interval, maintaining the same good tempo seen in the first half. Lucas made it 2-0 after capitalising on a loose ball from a Colombatto free kick. Portillo and Hassan entered the fray, and it would be the Spanish midfielder who made it 3-0 and sealed the victory. In the final stages, VAR would award the hosts a penalty which saw them cut the deficit. Nonetheless, there was still time for Alemão to grab a brace and provide the finishing touch in a 5-1 win.

This victory sees the Asturians get back to winning ways and move on to 29 points. Next weekend will see the side face Granada CF at the Carlos Tartiere.
