A Big Win at the Tartiere to Raise Excitement Levels

After picking up an important point in Leganés last time out, Real Oviedo were back at the Carlos Tartiere tonight for Matchday 11 in LaLiga Hypermotion. Having earnt 7 of the previous 9 available points, Los Azules came up against Albacete BP with the clear objective of picking up another victory, in order to maintain the renewed optimism intact. Head Coach Luis Carrión opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román,  Oier Luengo, Dani Calvo, David Costas, Abel Bretones, Colombatto, Luismi, Sebas Moyano, Viti, Seoane and Bastón.

 

The Asturians started the match very strongly, going incredibly close to opening the scoring in just the 4th minute. Luismi met a Colombatto corner and struck the crossbar, giving the away side an early fright. Real Oviedo continued to look to take the initiative during the first half, but a well-organised Albacete side did not make it easy for them. Just as it looked like half-time would arrive without any big news, Álvaro R. received a second yellow card and left the visitors with ten men.

 

Los Azules emerged for the second half with renewed energy and aware of the need to push forward. A free kick from Colombatto in the 48th minute would lead to Paulino heading home the opener, sparking delight amongst the Oviedistas in attendance. Four minutes later there would be further joy, with Borja Bastón's header making the score 2-0. The home crowd were enjoying their side's play, and Paulino continued with his own personal party, adding his second goal and making the score 3-0. With a 3-0 lead, Luis Carrión opted to use his bench, bringing on Cazorla, Sesé, Romario Ibarra, and Camarasa, and Los Azules were able to enjoy a calm final thirty minutes.

 

This victory sees the team having taken ten of the last twelve points available, on their best run of form of the season. The next league fixture will see Los Carbayones travel to face SD Amorebieta.
