José Ángel Ziganda Named the New Real Oviedo Head Coach
The coach from Navarre will take charge of the team until the end of the season and give his first training session tomorrow

Real Oviedo has reached an agreement to sign José Ángel Ziganda as the new First-Team Head Coach. The Navarre-born coach has committed himself to the club until the end of the season, with the option of a further campaign.
José Ángel Ziganda is 53 years old and was born on 1st October 1966 in Larrainzar, Navarre. Having brought his playing career to an end, Ziganda began his coaching career with the Osasuna youth teams, working his way upwards until he became the First-Team Head Coach. He was Osasuna's coach in the First Division between 2006 and 2008. He then took over at Xerez Deportivo in 2009-10, before moving on to Athletic de Bilbao. He spent six years with the Basque club's B team, Bilbao Athletic, including a promotion from Segunda B to Segunda División in 2014-15. He stepped up to become Athletic de Bilbao First-Team Head Coach in 2017, taking charge of a total of 54 matches in the Primera División.
José Ángel Ziganda will take charge of the Real Oviedo first team from this Wednesday, with training starting at 10:45, behind closed doors. He will be joined by Bingen Arostegui as his Assistant. The remainder of the coaching staff, Alberto Martínez, Sergio Segura and Jaime Arias, willremain unchanged.
Former Assistant Head Coach, Javier Benavides, will remain at the club, with his role being determined in the coming days.
