The Carlos Tartiere played host to another matchday in LaLiga Hypermotion this Sunday, as Real Oviedo came up against FC Cartagena. The team went into the encounter with the aim of getting back to winning ways with a first home victory of the season. Javi Calleja made changes, opting for a starting eleven made up of Aarón Escandell, Rahim, Dani Calvo, Oier Luengo, Lemos, Sibo, Colombatto, Cazorla, Hassan, Chaira, and Alemão.
Los Azules dominated the first half, entering the match with personality and authority, pinning Cartagena back in their own half. Just past the ten-minute mark, Cazorla tried his luck with a free kick under the wall, which grazed the side-netting. Real Oviedo looked to threaten down the wings through Chaira and Hassan, although the clearest opportunity would come from a set piece. The keeper was forced into a fine save as Oier Luengo headed Colombatto's cross goalwards. The visitors looked to threaten on the counter, but Escandell and the defence stood up to the danger well.
Cazorla was first to go close in the second half, before Javi Calleja made a double change and brought on Paraschiv and Sebas Moyano. Our team was relentless in search of the opening goal, but was forced to be patient. Seoane and Paulino de la Fuente also entered the fray in the 72nd minute, but it would not be until the 82nd minute that Colombatto would spark joy amongst the Oviedistas. A move on the edge of the box ended with Sebas pulling the ball back for the Argentinian to convert. The 1-0 lead finally did justice to the performance seen out on the pitch.
This victory saw Real Oviedo pick up their first three home points of the campaign and get back to winning ways. With seven points now in the tally, Los Azules begin preparations for the league fixture against CD Eldense.
