Real Oviedo has received two positive results from the PCR and serological tests carried out on its members of staff and first-team players yesterday, upon the return to training. In both cases the positive tests are from players, who will now remain in self-isolation at home and are asymptomatic.
The club has communicated the results to the Department of Health of the Principality of Asturias and its Centre of Epidemiological Surveillance, LaLiga, the National Sports Council, and the Spanish Football Federation.
Real Oviedo is maintaining constant contact and coordination with these bodies, and collaborating widely with all of them in order to safeguard the health of everybody involved, including the distant contacts of each of the people who have tested positive. Furthermore, the club is immediately putting into action the protocols established by the relevant authorities for the event of positive results, such as in the cases of these two players.
In the lead-up to the medical tests the club strictly complied with the precautionary isolation recommendations to look after its first-team players, coaches and staff. The club will still begin training at El Requexón today, given that there has been no contact between the players, neither before nor after the medical tests and up to the time of learning of the results. Training will take place in three consecutive time slots with individual training, as had previously been planned, until Monday.
