Real Oviedo has issued its vote against the CVC Fund, during the LaLiga General Assembly held in Madrid today. The club does not disagree with the general concept, but rather with the way in which the operation has been planned and executed. The vote against the proposal was made for the following reasons:
- The belief that it was necessary to hold an open and transparent consultation process, in order to secure a more beneficial agreement for all clubs.
- Because this transparency, which we also consider necessary when deciding the criteria for allocating shares, would clear up the motives for which this distribution of the money would leave Real Oviedo wronged on a competitive level, with respect to the other teams in the same division.
The club is analysing the financial implications of the agreement closely in order to make the decision to accept or not participate in it. The significant competitive disadvantage which would result from our club rejecting the funds mean that it is necessary for us to undertake a deep reflection on the present and future consequences of the agreement.
