The Press Room at the NMR Carlos Tartiere today hosted the official presentation of Gustavo Blanco Leschuk as a new Real Oviedo player.
As has become the norm, club Director of Football Francesc Arnau was responsible for welcoming the new signing to the club, thanking the members of the media for their "presence on such an important day for the city of Oviedo as San Mateo." He later highlighted that "we are making the most of today to present a special signing, Blanco Leschuk, who is an internationally-proven forward. Gustavo is a target man of a good size, andhe is going to be important in our attack. He's coming in on a loan, with the obligation to buy him if we are promoted, so I hope we have to use it! We thank him for his willingness to join. He's had different offers and he has chosen us."
For his part, Blanco Leschuk began by analysing his move to Real Oviedo, admitting that "it was a family decision. I had offers from a few countries, but I wanted to return to Spain. I've always felt very comfortable here and I didn't think twice. I've chosen a good club and I've found good people here already. I hope to do things well and improve so that I can play. I'm now at a big club and I hope to continue to be happy here."
Asked what he knows about Real Oviedo, the Argentine commented that "I've always received the best references (about the club). I'd met a Spanish person before who told me I had to come and play for Oviedo. I watched Real Oviedo matches in Argentina. I'm doing well physically, I just need to train with the team and meet my teammates. I was training in Turkey."
With respect to what he can offer the team, the attacker highlighted that "I am looking to contribute hard work, unselfishness and whatever the Coach asks of me. I am going to give the best I can to help the team and so that we can get good results. When I came to Spain I didn't know what it was like, I didn't have any experience of it, but now I know how it is. I have to adapt to the division like I did two years ago. This league is difficult and even, but with hard work we will be able to adapt." In addition, regarding his goalscoring record, Blanco Leschuk believes that "it's always good to beat your previous record. I am looking to beat the nine goals I got at Málaga, but in this case the important thing is the team. We have to win every match and we are going to work for that. The aim is to get the three points each weekend, and then we will see. We all have to take it step by step and match by match."
Asked about Ziganda's side's matches this season, Gustavo commented that "I've seen the two matches they've played and there's a good team. I have to work and help this squad. We are going to put in a good campaign and fight for big things."
Finally, discussing the different options he had during the transfer window, the Argentine said that "I had different offers. I am here and that's what matters. I've made this decision and I'm happy here. Happiness doesn't depend on money, and I am here to work to improve."
