Real Oviedo visited El Alcoraz today for the Matchday 24 LaLiga Smartbank fixture against S.D. Huesca. Álvaro Cervera opted for a starting eleven made up of: Braat, Lucas, Rodri Tarín, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Viti, Luismi, Jimmy, Sangalli, Koba and Obeng.
Los Azules started the encounter on the front foot and had opportunities to open the scoring in the early minutes. A fine strike from range from Samu Obeng forced the keeper into a good save in the sixth minute, before Abel Bretones' effort from the back post went just over the bar.
Álvaro Cervera's side would get their reward, however, during their best spell of the game. A fine piece of play from Koba ended in Viti Rozada clearly being brought down in the area, with the referee signalling the penalty kick. Koba Leïn would step up and dispatch the spot kick to give the Asturians the lead in the 39th minute. However, just when it seemed as though Los Carbayones would go in for halftime with the advantage, Pulido scored an incredible bicycle kick which gave Braat no chance, levelling the scores in the 41st minute.
Real Oviedo would go down to ten men just after halftime following Luismi's 57th minute red card. Despite the setback, the team did not let their heads drop and showed great pride in battling through the remaining thirty minutes. Los Azules produced a good second-half performance with ten men, particularly defensively, and went close to claiming all three points in added time, following a fine piece of individual play from Abel Bretones. The full back dribbled past his man and got to the by-line, but his cut back could not quite find a forward to apply the finishing touch.
The Asturians will be back in training on Tuesday, as preparations begin for next weekend's fixture against Villarreal B.
