Albacete hosted Real Oviedo today at the Carlos Belmonte in Matchday 11 in LaLiga SmartBank. Prior to kick-off, the home side paid tribute to Tomeu Nadal, presenting him with a shirt numbered 197 to mark the amount of matches he played during his time with Albacete.
The first half was a hard-fought affair. Jon Pérez Bolo's side had the first chance of the encounter, as Bastón won the ball at the edge of the box before firing just wide.
The best spell for Real Oviedo arrived just after the half-hour mark, but both Javi Mier and Montoro were unable to convert from low efforts from range. Albacete's most dangerous opportunity arrived in the 41st minute, with Tomeu forced into a fine intervention to keep the scores level.
The second half began in an even fashion, and although the home team did enjoy some spells of pressure, Pomares had a chance to put Los Azules into the lead in the 72nd minute. The left back met a set piece into the box, but his effort was tipped out for a corner by Bernabé. Luck is not going Real Oviedo's way at the start of this season, and a VAR check would see Kawaya awarded the winning goal in the 82nd minute.
The team suffered its first away defeat of the season today, and will try to turn things around next time out, when they face Málaga at home.
