Real Oviedo went into their Matchday 16 LaLiga Hypermotion fixture against SD Eibar with the intention of getting back to winning ways. The side was well-aware of the importance of picking up three points today at the Carlos Tartiere, and Luis Carrión opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Lucas, Costas, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Colombatto, Luismi, Paulino, Viti, Seoane and Borja Bastón.

Possession and control of the encounter was shared during a first half which featured moments for both sides. Following an even opening period, Los Carbayones would go close through Santiago Colombatto. The midfielder swung a venomous ball into the box which struck the woodwork. However, SD Eibar hit back strongly shortly afterwards, with Bautista turning the ball into the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.

Real Oviedo stepped up a gear after the interval and it was clear to see right from the kick-off. Borja Bastón headed home in the 59th minute to level the scoring, bringing new life to the Tartiere crowd. The Asturians were clearly on top throughout the second half, attacking relentlessly and searching for the winner, while Eibar barely threatened. Sebas Moyano, Alemão, and Masca came on as the team continued to look for a winning goal, and it would eventually arrive in the 89th minute. Los Azules were awarded a penalty following a VAR check and Colombatto stepped up to fire home the spot kick.

These three crucial points move Luis Carrión's side onto 22 points. The team will go back to training on Wednesday, when preparations begin for the league fixture against Mirandés.
