Real Oviedo has reached an agreement for Rubén Reyes to become the club's new Director of Football. The Asturian joins the club's sports management structure and will lead the new on-field project for the next two seasons.
Rubén Reyes Díaz is 42 years old and was born in Gijón in 1979. The new Director of Football came through in Asturian football, representing Real Oviedo as a player in the 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 seasons. He later continued his career by representing Villarreal, Getafe, Albacete, Pontevedra, Rayo Vallecano, Palencia, and Alcobendas. Rubén Reyes furthered his development after retiring as a player, achieving qualifications in various different areas and methodologies, ranging from Head Coach to Sports Management. The Asturian joined Rayo Vallecano as a coach and analyst in 2017. Most recently he held the role of Technical Secretary at Rayo Vallecano, who have just been promoted to LaLiga Santander.
Rubén Reyes is now in Oviedo and will now take charge of the club's new project, leading the sports planning for the 2021/2022 season.
The new Director of Football will be presented at 12:30 this Wednesday at the NMR Carlos Tartiere. The Asturian will not make any statement until that time.
