This morning Real Oviedo Coach, Sergio Egea, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón, prior to the trip to face CD Tenerife.
The Head Coach began by analysing the well-being of his players. Juan Forlín will be the only injury absentee, while the other three absentees, Christian Fernández, Javi Hernández and Saúl Berjón, are suspended. Following a question regarding the changes he will make to the starting lineup, the Argentine coach confirmed that they will be “normal changes, man for man” as the team approach the match “in the best way possible. We are a winning team; we are optimistic. We travel with a lot of respect for CD Tenerife, but we’re going after the three points.”
Regarding the two contrasting objectives, the fight to avoid relegation and the battle for a playoff berth, Egea said the following: “we are focusing on our own fortunes. They have a limiting situation, but we are also playing for something important. You never know, but avoiding relegation is something very difficult for a club like Tenerife, and for their fans. I insist that we must think about our own situation, which is a privileged one. If we keep winning, we can still reach the playoffs. Our commitment, our football, and our mentality are strong. We are fighting for something beautiful, while they fight with great anxiety.”
When asked about the B-team players that have trained with the team this week, Egea commented that “they play good football and could get their chance at any time.”
Lastly, regarding the importance of this match, Real Oviedo Head Coach pointed out that “I never find any game easy. They are all different, but there’s no doubt that we must win in Tenerife no matter what. Afterwards, we will keep an eye out for the other scores. I have found our team to be very committed ever since I arrived. They work at a high pace, and we thank them after each practice session. This is a winning group, and we have to be happy about it. We always want to better, but we are in a good situation. There are others that look up at us, and they could be struggling. We thank the lads for everything they give us,” concluded the Argentine.
